  • Who do you wish could/would have gone to GFIV that didn't?

Of course, it would be nice to meet everybody.

But this is my list, in alphabetical order!

    -Blue Strat (again)

-Dr. Tweedbucket (what could go wrong?)

    -Rooney

    -Smilin' Bob (again)

    -Steverino

    -Timezarrow

    -UncleJam

I know several people expressed an interest in Ohio, because of it's somewhat more eastward location, for all us East Coasters what been flying all over the country for four years now. And George and Tweedy are there, so they can co-host GFV. And Tweedy said it'll coincide perfectly with Kwakklestock 2010!

      Swing it next year Cherri!

I think you're in MI, yes? That's not far from OH, if we get the Ohio consensus, which sounded like we very well may.

I know I can't do another cross-country flight/3 hour time change. That about killed me the first time.

And Justcrash is in Ohio too.

Uh, before you guys left for Tulsa, I put in my oar for next year over on the Geezer forum:

        http://geezer-brigade.com/joomla/smf/index.php?topic=7625.0

And I recall mentioning the possibility last year for this year as well, but Hippy had beat me to it.

Just sayin'. It's a group dink and a group decision.

But as to your present question, my vote is for RR. His brilliant multi-instrument playing, singing, vast knowledge of music, musical instruments and amps, conversational gambits, stories, anecdotes, philosophical observations, political acumen, among many other qualities, would have ensured an amazing GFIV instead of the pitifully lame gathering that actually ensued. oke:
NOTE: The absence of smilies in this post should not be taken to mean that I think your post is stupid, nor that I loath, despise, or hate you; nor that I disrespect you and all your works; nor that I see you as victim or lawful prey; nor think you have the intellect of half a loaf of bread; nor that I find you disgusting or unworthy or otherwise hate your behavior, opinions, politics, gender, sexual orientation, culture, ethnic background or language.

F*** 'em if they can't take a joke!

I'm just saying that's what I heard folks talking about; I'm sure not going to worry about. I'm still recovering from Tulsa.

If it's in Nevada, well, have a blast, but I'll stay grounded in NC so I don't go through the severe jet lag/lethargy deal I went through in San Diego the first year.

But you still made my list Bob, of folks I'd like to have seen.

But would it be in the Hamptons or the eastern shore?

And, would Julie Andrews be able to make it?

SB, the real trick for a Silver City GF is logistically challenging... discounted
accomodations, travel between accomodations, venue and airport, venue size and nature, backline, support band...
The answers to those issues are what will sway the group...

I would love to see us do this somewhere different every year, personally, teh Oiho, teh Carolinuz...Floridia...Nu Yawk even, but it is always about teh logistics.

Here is what I said on the Roost:

"I would like to host next year's GF here in Silver City, NV (near Virginia City, Reno, Tahoe). The town has been trying to wrangle a permanent outdoor stage/pavilion, and I might be able to roll the GF into a benefit for said stage. Oh yeah, we do have a take down stage we can use for the GF."

So, if we do the benefit, it will likely be an afternoon into evening deal with other bands and a house band based on Will Rose's Wild Rose with a PA and backline. Wild Rose has been the support band for Hammerstone, the archaeologist band of which I am a member (elements of which will probably join the Geezers on stage since we are all geezers too). If Will can make us sound good, you guys should really shine.

Our Firemen's Ball attracts several hundred people. The pavilion benefit may not be as big, but there will be a considerable crowd. They will come wanting to boogie.

This is Nevada. Discounted accommodations R us. Especially if you don't mind driving from a casino in Carson City. The distance from there to Silver City is about 12 mi on US 50 + St Rt 342. As I recall, it was a similar distance from the motel to Tim's house in SD but no ****************ing crazy freeways. By the way, there are 3 or 4 legal cat houses between Carson City and my house. Just sayin'.

I will also try to get discounts in Virginia City motels (4 mi N of Silver City on St Rt 342) and Gold Hill (3 mi N of Silver City on St Rt 342).

The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is 22.19 mi. from Virginia City. Takes about 45 min to get from the airport to my house. Cars are rented there.

If we do the benefit: I won't know whether we can do it for a couple of months. The proposal is on the agenda at the town meeting tonight. There will be a lot of palaver. If enough people don't sign on, it won't happen. If it goes, it will go whether or not the Geezers attend, so that's not a consideration to anyone but me.
