      well, let's say...like many other things...not anymore.
For that matter, are Schallers still made in Germany, and are Gotohs still made in Japan?

Well, where the tuners are made kind of figures into one aspect is the disdain for Asian guitars argument. If, for example Gibsons have made in Asia Grovers, and certain made in Japan, Korea or China axes have made in Asia, then aren't the tuners, at least, equivalent? Or are there different grades of Grover tuners, with the very best going to Gibson, and the less than great ones going on Asian guitars?

You know, Bob, I would think that with the low low super low prices on Agile guitars you could just buy a few extras to pirate parts like tuners from on an as-needed basis. Makes sense, no?

Edit - Sperzel tuners an American product.

Taylor, I'm just wondering about the lack-of-road-readiness because-they-are buit-with cheap-components-that-will-soon-fail argument. If all Grovers are built in Asia, then that's one component that made-in-USA guitars with Grovers and made-in-Asia guitars with Grovers share. And in that that component at least there should be no difference in road-readiness. Just sayin'........... *whistles an aimless little tune - looks at bird in tree*

How are people to know what a good guitar is if it doesn't say it on the headstock?

An armadillo is a possum with a bad attitude. That's the kind of thing you buy at a swap meet and two weeks later wonder why your house stinks.
