Members toelessfoot
Hey guys, I just wanted to find out if there are any health risks related to singing too hard. Sometimes when I belt it out I get a bizarre sensation in my head, get mild chest pain and feel as though I'm going to pass out. Am I damaging my system by doing this or is there nothing to worry about? Just FYI I'm a pretty healthy and active person that plays lots of sports in which I never have issues with chest pain or anything like that. Moderators davie Posted July 15, 2011 Moderators Share Posted July 15, 2011 Do you have any voice training? Sometimes when people sing improperly then issues may arise. I'm not completely certain what's going with you, but I suspect that you may be holding unnecessary tension, possibly in your neck. Chest pain is a weird one, but maybe its linked to improper body posture. For example if your body is slouching and your ribcage is collapsed then there is no space for your lungs to expand and might be strain on your chest. That's just my guess anyway. Also, can you elaborate on the bizarre head sensation?

Members toelessfoot
I took singing lessons for a brief period but they weren't very good and other than that I have no training. The sensation in my head is hard to explain but it kinda feels like fluid rushing around the inside of my scalp as I release whatever note I was singing. I usually get all three sensations at the same time.

Members rodclement
When I sing hard I fell awesome and I get a woody!!! Being serious now...go see a doctor! I am not in good shape right now and I go balls out every week, outdoors, in the Summer sun, for over 4 hours and I never feel chest pains. As for health issues, if you're perfectly healthy aside from being in your "singing mode", then I doubt your doctor can help (personally, my own doctor would probably say that I'm 'crazy' ) and I'm not sure if there's a specialist for this kinda thing. You're probably forcing tension in some way.
