Members DukeOfBoom
is because they can't write a melody or lyrics. I mean, these coaches have great technique and all that. But a lot of them (I'm talking the rock-oriented ones) write the cheesiest lyrics and melodies. For example, take a look at Robert Lunte's performance on his original: HgBWfmuDYxU Robert Lunte always has good advice on his forum posts, and if I had the time and cash I'd go for one his power seminars, but man, this song is just bad. Bottom-line, however, is a career in music (even in coaching) beats working at the local steel mill.
Members grace_slick
Maybe that is true, yeah. They may not have the motivation to be a singer / performer / artist, or they've tried and failed and need to make money. I kinda think of it as...well, singing teachers either want to be teachers but don't want a heap of kids around all the time or strict school working hours, and they happen to be able to sing, so they teach that. Or they WERE singers / performers in some small sense, but then get old, can't sustain the lifestyle (not successful enough to afford it), so they become teachers as their day job. Members rodclement
I can't say I agree with the OP about coaches in general but that is just bad...the song, the delivery, the way he moves during the song....sorry, I know he is a great coach but that is just not good... Members Jersey Jack
Meh... It seems fine to me--pretty much like other stuff in that genre. But I'm not into this kind of music, and I'm sure his kindred spirits have a finer ear.... So, I'd be happy to participate in this stoning. Members DukeOfBoom
I guess the same thing happens to singers as what happens to guitarists: the "widdly syndrome" people with too much technique put the technique before what's best for the song. it's similar to a guitarist playing a million notes when the tune doesn't call for a shredfest. Members DukeOfBoom
the way he moves during the song hehe, he moves like that in every damn thing he does, even when he's teaching other students in his vids. it's really funny
Members staticsound
wow...Lunte is a good vocal coach, but damn...that sucked. I couldn't even watch the whole thing..
Members DukeOfBoom
$1 million bucks to whoever posts live performances of: 1) Melissa Cross 2) Susan Carr 3) Kevin Richards 4) others?
Members Masklin
Your negative posts probably bias me greatly, but at the moment I don't feel like that was the most awesome {censored} I've seen/heard this year. He's a great singer though, which makes sense rite.
Members DukeOfBoom
lol, that's like one of those performances you do when you're so drunk and you think you're doing the most excellent job ever. then the next day you watch what a buddy recorded, and you can't bring yourself to watch more than 20 seconds. hahaha
Members tbry
The vocal itself wasn't that bad but the backing track he was singing to and the sound quality was just bad...
