  • Drag and Drop Read Only Files in Windows 8.1 - a question for the gurus - move/copy problems

I've been using Windows since 3.1 and for as long as I remember, when I left-click drag and drop a "Read Only" file from one folder to another, I've gotten a nag screen asking me if I really want to move the read only file.

On two new Win 8.1 computers if I left-click drag and drop the Read Only file from one folder to another on the same drive, it just moves it with no warning.

I can find how to get the nag screen when I send to the trash, but not when I move from folder to folder on the same drive.

I've googled and googled and can't figure out how to make it give me the nag screen back.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,
    Bob
