  • Dual booting - Linux runs cooler then windows.

    Thought I would share this, given the gpu overheat problems on Hp laptops.....Ubuntu is running 10c cooler then in Win xp, same machine, just surfing the net.


    I can ponder why, but it would be tin foil hat time. Whatever the case, if you want your computer to last and not constantly upgrade, a free Linux OS might help get you there.

    It's probably running cooler because the driver doesnt support all the card's features. I haven't used anything but free operating systems willingly in 15 years but good graphics card driver support is not Linux's strong point.

      You should get into the present Linux scene though I wouldn't install any Ubuntu based or derived Linux OS. Personal dislike that stems from things I didn't like some years ago and things I don't like reading about in current versions.
