  • Is Logic worth it just for the Soft Synths that come with?

I've been thinking about switching to a software keys system, and I'm amping up my MacBook with extra memory. . . thinking of running Main Stage. . . so with all of the soft synths that come with Logic, maybe I should get it as well, instead of Ableton or something else. . . thoughts?

That's the only reason I use Logic...the excellent softsynths and effects. You could also buy the latest version of MainStage from the App Store for $30, it comes with ALL of Logic's softsynths and effects, plus a looper effect that's not in Logic. You can record your MainStage performance using its built-in stereo recorder too.

OK, so you're saying I don't need Logic at all if all I'm interested in is the sounds that come with, because they ALL already come with Main Stage 2, which I was planning on using anyway. Is that right? Man, it's really hard to tell from reading on the Apple site what exactly comes with Main Stage 2.

That is correct. MainStage 2 has all of Logic's virtual instruments and effects, but for $29.99!

I'd still buy Logic. It's absolutely the best deal out there DAW wise. You'd still be paying less for Logic and MS than you would for most other software.
