I have a question regarding the Akai MPK49.

I am looking to purchase one in order to use it as the basis of a customized midi controller (I will basically re-house the unit into a minimal housing).I already own a Miniak, and I like the backlit pitch/mod wheels on that, so that is why I am looking at the MPK49.

My question is this : if I remove the pads (obviously voiding my warranty, I'm aware of that!) and the sliders, would the rest of the keyboard still function correctly? I am making a minimal outer housing for the MPK49, and won't need these functions.

Looking at this image of the control knobs/sliders board, what I would hopefully want to do would be remove the sliders, etc from the board :

Would I just be able to simply remove the pots, buttons, sliders from the board?
Would everything still work without those?
