  • PC and MOTU Interface: Firewire advice

    Hey Guys,

Does MOTU favour any particular type of firewire card for smooth performance with a PC? There’s no manual posted and you have to buy a product to get tech support from MOTU online…

I’m thinking about picking up the new MOTU 4pre and wanna take advantage of the faster firewire (I know it has usb 2.0), and also cause it can be powered through the firewire too.

I’ve got an old pc right now, but will be getting an i7 3.4ghz, 8gb ram, 1.5tb 720rpm, Windows 7 machine with Pro Tools 10 and Ableton Live 8.

    Cheers and thanks in advance!

Texas Instruments supposedly best for most FW interfaces.

MOTU requires a firewire card with Texas Instruments chips for proper operation.

SIIG and Belkin have known good TI-chipped cards at reasonable prices. Trey newegg.com.
