(common occurrence with me) I was later able to run it down on Google - it was Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra. That's not the story. In fact there is no story. While I was perusing Bartok on Youtube I ran across another "Concerto for Orchestra" by previously unknown to me Witold Lutoslawsky.. Interesting and picturesque to say the least.
