Members Chumer
I just bought a used Yamaha clarinet, I started on clarinet and piano but switched to guitar and voice when I was 19...time for a revisit. In truth I've always thought the clarinet was underrated as a rock / pop instrument as it's warmer, smoother, less harsh and more woody-resonant than sax. Members sunburstbasser
Particularly when it's played well, the clarinet can have a sound that works for all kinds of music. It's naturally huge range also means that you won't have to struggle to fit it into a given key or register.
Members Chumer
Thanks for replying I thought the thread was lost! I still have to pick up some reeds for the beast...this is my first resin clarinet, as the one I used for years was wood and kinda fell apart / wore out (Boosey & Hawkes). Suggestions on reeds? Members sunburstbasser
I don't really know much about reeds. It seems to me that when clarinetists use harder reeds, they sound better to my ears.
