Members Darten
guys, I am normally in the drum section but I have a serious question for those players out there that have owned or used a Benge trumpet. I would like to know the main difference between the Burbank and L.A. models other than where it was made. How do they play when both are 3x. And... is the 5x worth it, if you have to work more? Will it blast louder than a 3x? thanks.
Members sunburstbasser
For Benge information try this: http://dallasmusic.org/gearhead/Benge.html I wouldn't worry about blasting loud with a Benge. Both the 3x and 5x had a brighter timbre that tends to carry better than the average Bach Stradivarius. Timofei Dokshizer played his over entire orchestras without amplification. Members Harry Richardso
I agree. Both Benge models carry well. I actually play a large bore Bach Strad and it's plenty loud enough to carry well.
Members hrnlip
Had an early 1977 Benge many moons back. Liked it but didn't love it. The main problem were the tempermental valves. The least little bit of microscopic gunk and they would stick, also because the top valve caps were so graduated, if you pushed them just the least little bit off center, they would also stick. Have heard this from others also. My 43/43*LTLR Bach does everything loud and strong that I need it to do. JMO
