Members Darten
Heya guys, I was curious.... I am thinking of picking up an old trumpet and dusting it off for some fun, but what exactly is a "director's" trumpet? I found one on ebay I was thinking of buying and to be honest, I havent played a trumpet in 20 years..... any help would be appreciated.
Members sunburstbasser
Sounds like the Conn Director model. These were student models, built like tanks and made to take a beating. Great horns all around and perfect for your situation. The only other one I'd recommend is the Olds Ambassador.

Members A_Gitarman
for getting back into it. I've been playing again for ~1 year after a long hiatus & really starting to enjoy it again. My wife is buying me a new Kanstul for Christmas. You might want to keep an eye on the Goodwill auction site as well... some nice horns pop up there every once in a while: http://www.shopgoodwill.com/listings/listByCat.asp?catID=13 http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions/Yamaha-Trumpet-4294498 http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions/19-Getzen-Trumpet-With-Case-4297283
