Mine has to be Billy in the Lowground. Of course I have plenty of favorites!

Here is Wayne Henderson showing how it is done on the guitar:

Oh, yea! I could close my eyes, sit on a porch in a rocking chair and listen for hours!

        I also love:

        Flop Eared Mule

Use to have an old Banjo,
It was all strung up with twine,
And the only song you could hear me sing was,
I wish that gal was mine.
Well, I wish that gal was mine, boys.
I wish that gal was mine,
And the only song you could hear me sing,
Was I wish that gal was mine.

        Whoa mule, you kicking mule,
        Whoa mule, I say,
I ain't got time to kiss you now,
        My mule has run away.

Took my wife to the barn yard,
And I sit her down to supper,
Well, she got choked on a turkey leg,
And stuck her nose in the butter.

Stuck her nose in the butter,
Stuck her nose in the butter,
Well, she got choked on a turkey leg,
And stuck her nose in the butter.

        Whoa mule, you kicking mule,
        Whoa mule, I say,
Tie a knot in that old mules tail,
        Before he runs away.

Your face is like a coffee pot,
Your nose is like a spout,
Your mouth is like a fireplace,
        With all the ashes out.

Well, With all the ashes out, boys,
        With all the ashes out,
Your mouth is like a fireplace,
        With all the ashes out.

        Whoa mule, you kicking mule,
        Whoa mule, I say,
I ain't got time to kiss you now,
        My mule has run away.
        {REPEAT AND FADE}

          Here's a couple I really like...

          **********

"Look at it this way: think of how stupid the average person is, and then realize half of 'em are stupider than that."

          - George Carlin

"It shouldn't be expected that people are necessarily doing what they appear to be doing on records."

          - Sir George Martin, All You Need Is Ears

"The music business will be revitalized by musicians, not the labels or Live Nation. When the musicians decide to put music first, instead of money, the public will flock to the fruits and the scene will be healthy again."

          - Bob Lefsetz, The Lefsetz Letter

Real bluegrass music doesn't have electric instruments, not to say you can use em though.

I saw the Del McCoury Band not that long ago.

He does a nice job on Richard Thompson's Vincent Black Lightning

            I love this

I have also seen many modern Bluegrass bands like
OCMS. I have seen these guys a bunch of time, and hanging around the Grand Ol Opry the last few years has't hurt them on bit. Chatham County line is good too. Chris Thile might be the most technical mandolin player out there today.

My bluegrass buddies tell me drums are for marching bands.

            What a great tune

            Heres another fav

I keep coming back to Uncle Dave Macon.
I play in a group that sets Tolkien's song lyrics to old-time string band music:
              The Lonely Mountain String Band.
Hopefully the estate will start considering music licenses again someday so we can publish recordings.

Speaking of Dillards, I really like "There Is A Time"

                Done at Andy's, of course!

All I know is we need more bluegrass songs in this thread.

                        I saw them last year.
