I respect his ability to turn hippies into murderers, but I hate his hippy murderers, and I don't respect his musical abilities, but I do like his music.

Actually, I liked what the Beach Boys did with "Never Learn Not to Love."

I respect Yngwie's ability and I like his music.

Manson may not have been much of a musician, but AXL did a damn good job covering "Look At Your Game Girl." He had the charisma to be a good cult leader, but brainwashing hippies on acid takes about as much effort as seducing a 400-pound drunk woman who just got out of prison.

I like the Rising Force album and a few songs from the later ones, but I really wish Yngwie would stop doing the same sweep picking thing in every damn song. He's just not versatile enough as a songwriter.

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." - Isaac Asimov, Newsweek (21 January 1980)
