Whenever it's dinner time and "game" time (basketball and soccer for my kids) the Frito Pie is the best thing on the menu.... cost less than the sausage wrap or the slice of pizza, and is more filling.... I've averaged 1/week the last 12 years

Haystacks: chili with onion, fritos, shredded lettuce, grated cheese and sour cream if you want.

I made one for the first time ever the other day and I'm 38. I've decided that it's quality is quite obviously determined by the quality of the chili. Nalley's Original won't cut it. I'm gonna have to investigate some gourmet chilis.

around here they are usually called "walking tacos" in the frito bag or "haystacks" on a plate. They are essentially Fritos with chili and cheese on top of them.

I haven't had one of those in years. When I was a kid playing little league baseball they used to have those in the snack bar. Cut open a bag of fritos sideways, couple scoops of chili, some cheese...done. They'd give you a plastic spoon and you'd eat it right out of the bag. Maybe it's just a Texas thing...

                        Like Joey said- "What's not to like, fritos-good, chili-good, onions-good, cheese-good...."
It was the iconic ballgame food here as well and the chili IS the deal breaker.

I've heard only vague references to them, but now that I see the ingredients I'm convinced it isn't sweet like a pie. Regardless, I might like one with some very basic chili.

We make something a little along those lines. Chip dip made of layers of cream cheese, refried beans, salsa, and cheddar cheese.

So, in a way; a Frito pie is a variation of a fried Quesadilla...
