The guitar is in its case in the living room.
The pack of strings is sitting on it, it's still got the receipt wrapped around it.
I just put the soft-case with all my allen wrenches and wire clippers on top of
    the case.

I might even try restringing it tonight but I've got a headache.

You realize I'm not going to cover his solo note-for-note.

Instead....I'll do the solo I would have done if I'd sat down for Donald
and Walter and show them how it REALLY should have been done.

(I'm really setting myself up for mass mocking, heh).

      Donald: Oh god, another one.
Walter: Well, he's got an interesting guitar case.
      Donald: No way.
Walter: Let's see what you've got.
      Me: (opening case)
Donald: What did I tell you?
Walter: Crap. Shred machine. This is going nowhere. Should he even plug in?
Me: I'm in the room. I can hear you.
Donald: Oh, sorry. Well, we'll give you a chance.
Walter: If you want to put your coat in the back you can, hang it off of
Mark Knopfler, he's back there crying after the 430th take.
      Me: Only 430?
      Donald: He couldn't hang.
Walter: Maybe I should play the solo.

I'm gonna be bummed if I'm the only idiot who posts a take.

It's a challenging set of chord changes and you set the bar very high with your take on it. The stuff you played was true to the original version but you added a little bit of flair to it. You kicked ass!

I won't have a guitar available until next week, but I'm going to try to get my take up, even if it takes a while.

I just got done stringing the guitar up and locked the strings in place.

But I think it might be a half step off because I did it by ear but since the
Floyd is level it should be just about on.

Then I spent about 20 minutes trying to figure out if the intonation was on.
                I think it is:

Tuned the A on the 5th string
Then tuned the Low E against the A. On.
Tuned the D by playing the A on the D and it matches with the A on the 5th.
Tuned the G 3rd by playing the A at 2nd vs the A at the 5th.
Tuned the B at the 2nd by playing the A against the A at the 5th.
Tuned the E at the 1st by playing the A against the A at the 5th.

                Everyting seems in tune.

I'll try this tomorrow, gotta get up early to take someone to the airport.

I suppose I should check if my guitar is still in tune.

THis is a great idea. If I can get my primitive recording set up to work, I'll submit a clip.

OK, here's the backing I used:
                          KC Backing
                          And here's my take:
                          KC Solo
Should we start a new thread with the backing and people's takes?

Anyone still working on this? I've been spending a little time getting the solo together (I have never been very good at the "note for note" thing) and might post something next week...
