  • If you could bring back 1 dead guitarist for another 2 years of gigging .

    Who would it be?

    Hendrix .

if we're talking back from the point they died for another two years immediately following, then Hendrix.

if we're talking back from the dead and dropped in 2008, then Hendrix.

And if Hendrix didnt want to come back it would be Shawn Lane.

              Hendrix.

Could you be any more obvious?

I'd rather have Jeff Buckley. Hendrix had a long celebrated recorded history; I'm not that interested in hearing what he'd do with two more years. Buckley, though, had time for only one studio album. I'd love to hear My Sweetheart The Drunk finished, and possibly another album after that. I'd be very curious to hear the musical direction he would've taken.

                Three years is long?

Two more would've nearly doubled that.

I agree that it's an obvious choice, but I honestly couldn't think of anyone better; most of my favorite guitarists are still alive, and of those who aren't, very few died in their prime, and of those who did, most have since been surpassed by their successors; think Django or Clarence White.

After Hendrix, my choices would probably be:

                Duane Allman
                Clarence White
                Charlie Christian

I'd bring Steve Hillage back from his techno/trance "death" and have him reborn as a hippy rock guitar god once again.*

*I wouldn't really. You can never go back, as they say.

I'd like to be there when your house of jazz cards comes crashing down on you one of these days.

You give jazz and it's practicioners a bad name in the same way Richie Sambora gives love a bad name.

Is that what he's up to these days? I must confess to not registering his continued existence until seeing your avatar. I haven't listened to Hillage since I was at school! (getting on for thirty years ago )

Yeah, he changed direction in the early 80s did some producing then got into the trance scene with his partner Miquette Giraudy and thats what he's done ever since. The pair of them are now System 7. I think he just got tired of the whole rock guitar hero thing. He probably got fed up with punks laughing at his flares. He was the first 'big' concert I went to when I was at school too. It was round about 1980.
