  • Sails of Charon Uli Roth live

I've never been a big fan of Uli Roth until I saw this clip and it blew my friggin' mind! This is from 1977. You can tell how he was the pre-cursor to guys like Yngwie Malmsteen

      Yep.

Fabulous player, in my top 3 influences for sure....I pretty much learned rock/metal guitar by listening to "Tokyo Tapes" over and over.

Awesome player, I would own more of his stuff but can't get past his singing no matter how hard I try.

Yup, Uli was shredding before we knew what shredding was.

Yeah, I have Fire Wind, and the singing is so hideous that I just can't listen to it.

Oh it gets worse than that... was that the album where he had the backup singers? Uli is a phenomenal guitarist but he can't sing... so on one or two albums he brought in some backgrounds singers that were just horrendous...

Yeah, I used to have Beyond the Astral Skies. Scary.

Uli Roth and the Sky guitar. Has like 30 frets or something. Pretty strange looking guitar, but I guess if you're into that sort of thing.
