  • So, what would you call your top three bands of the 00's?

(For the purposes of this thread, let's say a band is "of the 00s" if their first album/EP was released after 1999)

    I suppose I'd say:

    British Sea Power
    The National
    The Horrors

    You?

I will have to come up with a better list later, but the first band that comes to mind is Mastodon.
        The North remembers...

          Animal Collective
          Arcade Fire
3rd place goes to Deerhunter or LCD Soundsystem

Oooh! British Sea Power, they don't get enough mentions here.

            I'll go for:

            The Go! Team
            Black Moth Super Rainbow
Number three is difficult, I'm stuck between Goldfrapp and Ladytron. Aw, **************** it, I'll go with Ghost.

            So it's

            The Go! Team
            Black Moth Super Rainbow
            Ghost.

EDIT: I forgot Blood Ceremony. The list should be:

            The Go! Team
            Black Moth Super Rainbow
            Blood Ceremony

Tricky because a lot of the bands that I think did great work in the '00 released some stuff at the end of the '90s. For example, the White Stripes--my pick for band of the '00s--put out their first long-player in '99.

              Still, by your rules...

              The Libertines
              The Yeah Yeah Yeahs
              SM and the Jicks

We are ending the "00s at '09 with '10 been the first year of the 'teens, right?

                  1. Queens of the Stone Age ('98 but close enough)
                  2. Eagles of Death Metal
                  3. Black Keys

subject to change if i think of something different (queens is a solid #1 though)

the bands I'm picking are the ones that had the most fresh and appealing sound to me the first time I heard them, and then continued with at least one more album to hold that appeal (nowadays 2 great albums is a huge acheivement IMO)

                            New Pornographers
                            Fleet Foxes
                            Deerhunter

(could have picked Arcade Fire instead of Deerhunter, but I picked the one with the most recent impact on me)

                              Raconteurs
                              Zac Brown Band
                              A Perfect Circle
Guitar Jam is an uncomfortable place. Full of satan worship and vulgarity.
