His regular 'significant albums of the year' threads always have about 300 recommended albums in them, so he's bound to have digested Opus Eponymous by now.

One doesn't digest Opus Eponymous... it digests YOU.

Ghost is more a product of digestion.

Yes, they nourish the human body and feed the mind.

I just recommended Ghost to the friend who introduced me to Mercyful Fate a lifetime ago. He liked it but agreed that the vocals were a bit lackluster.

Yeah, I remember you saying before you thought the vocals were a bit weak. There was someone else who agreed with you.

I like the vocals, I think because they're not like Bruce Dickinson or Rob Halford or RJ Dio, I like their lack of full-on 'metalness'. It makes them seem more powerpoppy to me, or more like BOC's 'Don't fear the Reaper'.

Honestly I don't know if many people from the states, outisde of this forum, have heard of Ghost yet. No one I know personally.

I'm still listening to Opus. Does anyone else think that Genesis sounds a lot like Trespass/Nursery Cryme era Genesis? I've got to believe that had something to do with the title.

Oh, I'm sure that title is deliberate. They do describe themselves as 'Black Metal/Powerpop/Progressive' on their Myspace page, I think 'Genesis' is their go at Peter Gabriel-era Genesis worship. It also sounds a bit like Jean-Michel Jarre in places, although I'm not sure how deliberate that was!

so does that mean Peter Gabriel is your Dark Lord?

                          *waits patiently*
I too like it more 'cos the vocals are restrained..makes it all the more sinister sounding to me..
