I'm not a big fan of Bon Iver, but I do enjoy the Fleet Foxes.

Can't stand dubstep though, and I've never heard of "beardcore" before.

Also I may no longer qualify as a kid; what's the cutoff
Guitars: 3 Partscasters (SSS, SSH, and Tele), Gibson SG Special Faded (heavily modified), Fender Classic Player Thinline Telecaster
Effects: RMC4 Wah, Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet, Dunlop BoG Fuzzface, EHX Soul Food, BYOC TS-808, EHX Deluxe Electric Mistress, MXR Phase 90, Way Huge Aqua Puss Delay, TC Hall of Fame Reverb
Amps: Silverface Champ, Blues Junior with BillM mods

I've been thinking about that as well. I don't know about "kids" in general, but I have a pretty good handle on what kids in middle school are listening to, and it ain't Bon Iver. It's LMFAO and Katy Perry. And while I don't love LMFAO and Katy Perry, at least I can understand the appeal. Bon Iver reverby beardcore just mystifies me.

Mystification is where Bon Iver begins. Load the bong and embrace the sublime.

Around here it seems to be more the College Age+ crowd who are into Bon Iver. I guess I'm on the plus part of that equation.

It's hard to laugh when Slash is flipping me off.

My oldest kid is 20 and a junior in college. He does not like Bon Iver. He listens to Gucci Mane ironically, but he secretly likes it. He also likes Silversun Pickups and Queen. My middle kid is 17 and a senior in HS. He listens to rap and Bon Iver. My youngest is 16 and listens to those alt-boy bands like All American Rejects, and whatnot.

I was under the impression that everywhere you go, kids wanna rock. Now I find out that they wanna relax to Bonnie Raitt covers.

Based on my not-entirely-pleasant trip to a local "party as a verb" watering hole, this stuff is popular amongst drunk 30-50-somethings. The particular kid with whom I interacted was a serious fella, so I'm guessing "no" for him.

                            It was NightDreamer, wasn't it?
