I saw them in 1975, towards the end of the Get Your Wings album.

Damn, they sound horrid on this vid. I remember the first time hearing Back in the Saddle on the album when I got it, I know there was absolutely NO WAY he was going to be able to reproduce that live...same with the music on a lot of the Rocks album. This is another example of proof.

I wanted to go to that Day On The Green so badly that I lied to all my friends back home in CO and told them I did. Shame on me...

I think that was a common syndrome among young men of our age who so badly wanted to see a show, that they told everyone they were there, trying to fulfill the fantasy.

Lets call it "Day On The Green syndrome"

I saw Aerosmith at the Day On The Green in 1978. A pretty good line up with Foreigner, Pat Travers, Van Halen, and AC/DC. At that particular show Aerosmith was far and away the weakest band. This was in the middle of the cocaine years so it is entirely possible they were all loaded to the gills but they were a real disappointment that afternoon. I missed the '79 DOTG show because I moved out of the Bay Area about a month before that show.

Actually I was confused. It was the "78" DOTG I lied about seeing. Still can't believe AC/DC, Aerosmith and Van Halen at the same show. It was VH's first national tour. Lying totally backfired on me because when I got back to CO all my guitar player friends were like, "How's Eddie do it?" and I couldn't say anything except, "he plays really ****************ing fast man!" I recently confessed to this indiscretion much to my friends' amusement...
