so in other words imitation reggae, kinda like imitation crab meat. Not really crab meat. Kinda looks like crab meat, tastes a little like crab meat but leaves a bad taste in your mouth overall. You later feel guilty for eating that overly processed imitation "meat" when you coulda had the real thing and been so much moar satisfied.

Correct me if i'm wrong, which is entirely possible as I'm not much into the music, but I thought Sublime was more akin to Ska than Reggae?

No need to correct you. But that's largely a tempo thing, and they did some slower songs, IIRC.

Peter Tosh - Bush Doctor, Legalize It, Equal Rights
Black Uhuru - Sinsemilla, Chill Out
Steel Pulse - True Democracy, Handsworth Revolution
            Burning Spear - Marcus Garvey

            And then you should get
Bob Marley and the Wailers - Babylon by Bus

and forget the **************** about Sublime

              This is beautiful advice.

              Still, one fix.

... and then go listen to all albums by Culture you can lay your hands on.

I'm particularily fond of Harder Than The Rest, Cumbolo, Trust Me and World Peace.

Spot on. I'm thinking Tosh, Third World, etc. Actually reggae artists from Jamaica and everything...Sublime is good, I'm a fan, but they are not Reggae.

I'm afraid I loathe Sublime, so I'll leave that alone, but I just popped in to say I quite like Black Uhuru. They got some really interesting sounds.

All of this, especially the bit about forgetting Sublime.

Other classic reggae albums to check out:

Burning Spear - Man In The Hills
The Congos - Heart of the Congos
Max Romeo - War Ina Babylon
Max Romeo - Open the Iron Gate
                          Big Youth - Dreadlocks Dread
                          The Abyssinians - Satta Massagana
Prince Far I - Under Heavy Manners
Augusto Pablo and King Tubby - King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown
Lee 'Scratch' Perry - Super Ape

Did I mention not to bother with Sublime?

                            throwing in some dub too.

                            Melodians - Rivers of Babylon
Toots & Maytals - Funky Kingston
Congos - Heart of the Congos
Heptones - Party Time & Better Days
Augustus Pablos - King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown
                            Abyssianians - Satta Massagana
Lee 'Scratch' Perry - Super Ape
