  • Why do YOU hate fusion?

    Cause it sucks?

I liked you better as your previous alt. Now you're just a giant walking vagina filled with sand and yeast.

fusion describes a whole handful of music genres. You guys are mostly talking about jazz/rock fusion. One of the earliest jazz fusions was bossa nova (jazz and samba). After groups like Spyra Gyra what was ambiguously referred to as fusion was more jazz/funk rather than jazz/rock.

The term fusion is like mulatto, is doesn't just mean one thing. It simply means a mix (of anything).

    Does that help?

I've been listening to the new project album with Scott Henderson, Dennis Chambers and Jeff Berlin.  If you guys think they suck, then you can kiss my ass.  It's really amazing stuff.

It is like any other "genre" of "music"... I like some of it and I don't like some of it.

Do you consider bands like Led Zeppelin or the Beatles fusion?

Isn't all music pretty much some type of "fusion"?

          Part the first -- NO.

Part the second -- don't be stupid.

Defining music as one genre or another is convenient, but since

        a) music styles change

        b) our perceptions of music styles change and

        c) definitions of ephemeral perceptions of changing music styles change

There's no point in arguing about any of it.

Listen to what you like. Insult people who listen to what you don't like.
