  • What have you been listening to lately?

    I've been listening to:

Black Moth Super Rainbow - Cobra Juicy  (terrific album, BMSR go all upbeat and catchy)

Blood Ceremony - Living With the Ancients (it's like Fairport Convention, Black Sabbath, and Jethro Tull had a baby in 1972, and it went undiscovered until today)

    Grimes - Visions

The Go! Team - Rolling Blackouts

    Burzum - Fallen

Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats - Bloodlust

Regina Spektor's new one--What We Saw From the Cheap Seats.  It's so good.

I've also got a Harry Nillson comp from the library.

    Jukejoint Handmedowns (my band)

    Find our album on iTunes!

I go back and forth between the classic country station and the oldies rock station in the truck. So one min its Tammy Wynette and the next early Rolling Stones, lol.

Other than that, my wife got the newest Boz Scaggs, its pretty darn good, he can still croon. Got tickets to see him at the Rhyman in a few weeks.

After a break of about a 2 years, I'm re-visiting the Nirvana catalog and realizing that those are pretty decent songs

Also Neil Young's newest and the Dropkick Murphys.

Chvrches - some killer Glaswegian electropop

You heard Broadcast's soundtrack to Berberian Sound Studio? It's one of those where the main theme is repeated throughout but it's really good says me.

    New Veronica Falls

    New MBV

Late 60s-early 70s Stevie Wonder - I'm hepping myself chronologically. Talking Book and a few of the early singles were the only things I was really hep to.

    New Son Volt

    New Nick Cave

    New Joy Formidable

    New Sally Shapiro

    La Femme

    Jessie Ware

    Elliphant - Righteous Swedish dancehall/electronic pop/whatever

    Various singles

The stereo I put in my Jeep has a USB port, so I bought a 20-gig thumbnail drive and loaded it up with mp3's. I've been mostly stuck in the Devin Townsend, Gojira, Soilwork, and Imogen Heap folders.

In the last week or so I have listened to the following albums multiple times...

Eric Johnson - Live and Beyond

Mahavishnu Orchestra - Visions of the Emerld Beyond

      Ozzy - Live and Loud

Pinnick Gales Pridgen - self titled

Also watching a lot of Eric Johnson on youtube.  He can make some cool music with a guitar.

thanks to the wonders of utube, i have been listening to all the santana records that i ignored over the years. i never paid any attention to his records after Caravanserai and so missed alot of good stuff.

I like the Welcome album with Leon Thomas on vocals.  Did that one come before or after Caravanserai? Anyway, it's pretty good.

Great album, solo violin that has been overdubbed. Like a soundtrack for a non-existent movie.
