The problem is that most of our salaries hasn't kept up with the increase in prices.

I also have bills that my parents never had (cable, internet, overpriced coffee and cell phone bills).

I remember when we had to chip in some nickles and dimes so an older guy would drive us to Asbury so we could see Mountain at the Casino.... Those days are gone

Yeah, nickels and dimes were worth a lot more back then.

It's not that things cost more, it's that the money is worth less.

You were lucky. We lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down t' mill, fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out, for sixpence a week, and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi' his belt.

Venezuela still has 18 cent-per-gallon gas.

I may be one of the only people on the globe here that has never had a basic McD's plain Hamburger or cheeseburger. I have had the Big Mac a few times back about 3 decades ago. I actually don't care for hamburgers and didn't like them as a kid. When my grandfather would take me to McD's back when I was a kid I had the filet-o-fish thing.

I also remember sitting n the car eating a McD's meal, cause there was no inside sit down restaurant
