I was into metal in the early 80's. It wasn't as extreme and stupid as it is today. It was more like Led Zep and Judas Priest.
I like zep when I was a kid in the 70's, but not Judas Priests.
By the time the 80's rolled around I was more into jangley pop alt rock bands
REM, The Replacements, Plimsouls, Tommy Keane, The Mighty Lemon Drops, Crowed House, but there's a lot of stuff I loved

Funny story. Me and several car loads of friends went to see Judas Priest in Memphis back in the day. Rob Halford had a huge fat didlo shoved down in his stretch pants. It was obviously fake and we were all laughing about it, thinking that he did it to be funny for some reason.
