              so if we try something new... it's predetermined by past experience? i'll not argue the present situation because thats really all there ever was/is/will be...

                Why not? Why couldn't the desire for novelty be determined by past experience?

                  desire's not the question here... choice is... how i act upon that desire is choice... example:

                  i'm tired, i desire sleep... whether or not i sit and continue to type is my choice...
