  • Trump On Trade Deals

Why does President Trump say that all or at least most of the recent trade deals are a 'bad deal, for America?

His recent comments "After all, who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country for the benefit of its citizens?" have, IMO, tainted any idea that the US will be re-negotiating NAFTA in good faith.

Could it be possible that his idea of a good deal is a win for him and everyone else be damned?
"In many ways, most people’s happiness, peace and love are mortgaged to the external situation. So, if the stock market goes up you are happy, if the stock market goes down you are unhappy. But the quality of life is not about what is around you. Our ability to live joyfully here does not depend on the size of the house we live in or the car that we drive. These things make your life comfortable and convenient but the essential quality of your life is how you are within yourself right now."

....because Trump's primary world view is based around small local real estate markets, and he really doesn't understand global trade. JMO.

Never ascribe to malice that which can be explained by ignorance, because ignorance is far more prevalent and powerful than malice.

And ignorance would explain why Trump is on all sides of every issue.
Still, there's a real anger with his ignorance and anyone calling him out on that ignorance is then subject to malice.
