Nice. It's the down-ballot stuff where the real change begins.

Dems biggest problem the last 10 years has been to take their eye off the ball in state and local elections. Barack Obama sucked all the oxygen out of the party it seemed. It seems like the rebuilding has begun.

The pendulum swings. This is expected.
The long-term trend is left. That's why the white, sorry, right is so scared.
George Washington was the man who never told a lie. Richard Nixon was the man who never told the truth. Donald Trump is the man who doesn't know the difference.
Venezuela is what happens when you have Trump without the Madison.

Because Obama was such a strong political presence, Democrats got lazy. They left it to him to drive their agenda, and promote their policy position. He took up that mantle, because rank and file dems dropped it.

          Hmmmmm..... opinions vary on that.

Even as far back as 2009 there were those in the party who were critical of Obama because he was never much interested in the party. He put all of HIS energy and focus onto himself and HIS agenda and that gets at least some of the blame for why the local interests were neglected.

Yes - change begins at the local level. These victories are very encouraging for true freedom loving patriots everywhere.

The real test is next year. These kinds of off season elections are often missed by the public and only your die hard political type vote in them so its really not a good indication of any trends. Most places had a turnout in the 20% ranges and even in areas they Democrats won they weren't exactly landslide. For example Democrat Terry McAuliffe defeated Republican Ken Cuccinelli by 2.5 percentage points in Virginia where allot of attention was paid. The turnout was higher there then other elections but even in a highly urban area like that the numbers were nearly equal.

Democrats did tend to win big in these kinds of off season elections when a Republican President is in office but there are no major trends I'm seeing here. A wins a win of course and that's all that matter but its only wishful thinking (which democrats do need) to think there might be any trends happening.

Next cycle will be the big test. If they wind back the senate or house then you'll know you have some organization going on, but only one of those doesn't do much. The party has to start winning back local government to gain back any power. They wont be able to do it easily either. Major focus by the FBI investigating voter fraud will force those elections to be done properly and no one is going to put up with the shenanigans that went on during the presidential primary.

Don't you mean the millions and millions of illegal votes that went to HRC and prevented Trump from gaining the popular vote he so richly deserved?

I gotta feeling the GOP will be ready to help Impeach Trump in the summer of 2018, because the longer that he is President, his toxicity will cost the GOP both Houses.

Yeah and Hillary Clinton was going to win in 2016. Don't you get tired of being wrong all the time?Americans learned from the Obama debacle. You may win a few insignificant seats but as usual the Dems will try to deny the greatness of America. That is where you lose. As a Marine you should know this.

waka, you just keep going with that "yeah but we won!" and the other bumper sticker rhetoric eventually all your right wing noise fades out, and people will look for substance - and it's in short supply in trump's amerika

Your analysis is flawed. Low turnout elections traditionally favor Republicans which is one reason many people predicted a GOP upset here. That the Dem won and by margins that both outpaced the polling and margins they have seen in recent on-year elections points to an analysis pretty much the exact opposite of what you’ve tried to spin here.

Your analysis is flawed. Low voter elections tend to favor the party not in power. You lost over 1000 seats during the Obama regime. You only have about 990 to go.

You should check the historical voting trends, Waka. But you seem very sad that last night didn’t go the way you hoped.

Electing people at the local to state level has been very successful for the Reps in recent years, so much so that they have built political machines that are similar to the Tammany, Pendergast, Long, Daley outfits.

                  Congrats to the winners!

Voters get the government they deserve.

Republicans: You better get your asses in gear or there will be more losses.

Democrats: Don't gloat...you remember what happened when you were sure HRC would be then next president? TDS ring a bell?

IMHO, they're still gloating. Every freaking day. Again, in my opinion, most don't even care that The Chump is a criminal traitor. "Libz" are "butthurt", after all.
