I guess he could be forgiven for forgetting all the words.

Interesting that I don't think I even saw him use his thumbs.

And why did I keep expecting to see Dick van Dyke trip over the couch at any moment?

I have known about Thumbs for many years, since the 60's actually. Roger Miller was also a pretty fair guitar player as well as very accomplished on the fiddle and tour with a few headliners in their day.

          Thank Hoddy! (no pun intended)

Yes but Jeff had some Hendrix in him...

Here is another great "lap" player. He is not only left handed but he is blind too.

                that's great

it looks like a 'right handed' guitar in standard tuning

Well, you bring up Joe Maphis. There is a story here.

When I was 13 I lived in Oceanside, CA. Barbara Mandrell's father, Irby, was half owner of Oceanside Music Supply. I went to high school with Barbara. Irby was well connected with a lot of country stars and one of the folks that would drop by the store from time to time was Joe and Rose Maphis. I met him a few times and he would even take the time to show me things on the guitar. One time they had a big open house and Joe and a couple of other acts played there as well as the Ventures as this was a big Mosrite promotion. I have played that very guitar Joe was playing (it was heavy). I would see Barbara all the time at the store playing her four neck Wright Custom steel or playing sax and whatever. I was even being groomed to play in the Mandrell Family band that played locally as the draft was going on and they thought they would lose their guitar player Brian Longbeck.
