  • Retiring next year at 57

    Thank you Obamacare!
And thank you California for the fast work on setting up the health exchanges!

    Congrats on that!

I'm physically ready at 58.5, but I've gotta go until at least 62.5 to collect early SS (don't know if I can make it at my current vocation, though).

Thanks. I paid off the house last year, my wife will get a modest retirement next year also, I have been frugal my whole life, and my parents left me a modest nest egg.

The only ingriedient missing was affordable health insurance.

Hopefully others in similar situations as I will be able to make room for others in the workplace now that affordable insurance is on the horizon.

    Congrats!

I lost right a 48% of my company 401K in 2008-9 & "unhired" the so-called money managers...parked the money in low/no return safe funds & have been to scared to move them from there.

I now refer to in as my "CRP" (Cemetary Retirement Plan).

Been retired since the end of 2007.  I highly recommend it.
