  • Just like vehicles

Handguns and rifles registered and insured.

Buyers to receive a thorough background check and licensed for proof of proficiency.

Sales involve proof of insurance and title transfer just like a vehicle.

    Why not?

And the bullets should be costly just like gas is.

Have you seen the price of ammo lately?  It's nuts.

I'm all for strict licensing and whatnot.  Make people demonstrate proficiency and whatnot before they can own one.  I'm five with that.

That might stop the complaints about small sized clips. Really, if you can't stop a criminal with less than 5 bullets, you don't get out to the range enough.

      1. Owning firearms is a right, owning a car is not.

      2. Based on your logic, showing an ID to vote shouldn't be a problem then either.

      3. If it's silly that lawful gun owners are afraid of criminals with guns, then it's five times as silly that gun control advocates are afraid of lawful gun owners with guns.

As to be expected. Ask a serious question...get a BS answer.

There is no constitutional right to own firearms.

No it isn't.  If owning firearms was a right, the government would have to provide them free of charge to those who couldn't afford them.

What events and circumstances would this insurance cover, and what do you do if private insurers have no desire to issue such policies?

The NRA could make a few bucks by offering the liability insurance themselves on a not-for-net- profit basis. .

Free market baby. If an insurance carrier wants nothing do with it than you're assed out. When I was 17 I wanted to buy a used Corvette more than anything in the world. My insurance wouldn't touch it so you know what? I didn't buy a corvette.

And to that douche bag that says the constitution specifically mentions firearms whay don't you go ahead and post the line that does this.

We've been doing most of that with Class III firearms under the NFA since the 1930s. And guess what? It works.

Don't even bother. You can't win.

Bull****************.  It simply makes it hard for honest people to have NFA items.  Criminals skip the paperwork and get them on the street.

So you want individual states to regulate firearms as opposed to federal regulation.  Isn't that the way it already is?

No requirement in my state, and I would guess most states, to register a vehicle not used on public roads. Registration in my state, is also done and maintained at the state level. Should the state build a range, and required licensed, registered, guns great!

I am curious, I believe aircraft are registered via big gov (FAA), are off-shore boats registered to the fed, or state of their home port? What is registered through the FED?

You might get a bit more compliance to gun registration if it was done and maintained at the state level.

Slodge, I can't quote on IOS, I downloaded and read it. It is an affidavit stating you have not used your vehicle on the streets from date xxxx to date xxxx, and tells you you are still liable for any infractions you have received in that period. It is a form you would use if you desired to license a vehicle that had sat unused for a period of time.

Because AFAIK no politicians have talked about restricting or confiscating legally owned cars from lawful citizens. Giving them a list of exactly who owns what is a major step in that direction.

            OK,

            We will call it ObamaGunCare

or as Congress would want. Affordable Gun Act.

I'm cool with that. Owners will have better aim.

I have many times said we need something like this. Yes it is a right...but one that need to be earned. By understanding and know how and what these can do. Too many buy and never go to a range to learn there guns. Then get themselves in trouble.

Are you saying that only persons who went to school have the right? Does one have to maintain a certain level of performance, or is merely showing up sufficient?
