Like I said before, he could have surrendered but chose to shoot it out.  So be it.

Given the choice of burning to death or a bullet to the head, I'd go with the lead.

most who die in fires die from smoke inhalation, not incineration.

He could have walked out the door with his hands up too.

Outside of his victims' families, I wonder how many will remember either him or the contents of his manifesto.

Err... Larry, this is the headline of the page you linked to:

Dorner may have died from a self-inflicted gunshot, authorities say

      http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2013/02/dorner-died-from-shot-to-dead-possibly-self-inflicted-authorities-say.html

Reading the article, at the second paragraph and sentence:

"Fugitive ex-LAPD Officer Christopher Dorner died of a single  gunshot to the head, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials said Friday.

Officials said it appears the wound was self-inflicted but said a final determination has not been made."

The remainder of the article is breaking their arms patting themselves on the back over starting the fire.

Also, I do not believe for a New York second that if Dorner would have stepped out of the cabin with his hands up that he would have survived.

Having belabored the obvious above, I believe that it is probable that Dorner shot himself.

What did Dorner know that the LAPD didn't want us to know?
