  • The stranded Carnival cruise ship.

If you've been paying attention to the news of the stranded Carnival cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico, then you know how horrible conditions have become. No power, no restroom facilities, and people fighting over dwindling food and water supplies.

What's happening onboard this ship is a microcosm of what would happen in our "civilized" society should we lose power for an extended period of time. No electricity, food, water, gasoline, or anything else that we take for granted on a daily basis would be available from the usual sources.  Whatever you have at the moment the grid goes down is all you will have for a very long time.

Now add roving bands of thugs who will come, looking to take by force anything they may need, and you have a situation that none of us would want to be in, but is something for which we'd all better be prepared.

I'll be surprised if anyone is still alive by the time the ship reaches dry land today.

If I had a gun, I wouldn't be the one going hungry.

For providing food for the family and defending yourself should the need arise?

      Absolutely.

No, I don't believe either is fake.

But you're still a dumbass, so all is still right with the world.

So Mauser, if you were armed you'd presumably be doing what you need to survive that cruise ship hell. Taking from those who have more than you, forcing others to clean the toilets and decks etc.... survivalism FTW

Why not?  The targets would have limited ability to run away.
