  • Dems ramp up push for assault weapons ban, face headwinds from states.

"Democrats have begun an all-out push to move a new assault weapons ban through Congress. But it faces strong headwinds from House Republicans, Democrats in pro-gun rights states and many legislatures in western and southern states who are moving in a different direction to ease gun control, rather than strengthen it.

The Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by the bill's author, Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, heard emotional testimony Wednesday from a witness list stacked with pro-ban speakers -- none more powerful than Neil Heslin of Newtown, Conn., whose son Jesse, was killed in the elementary school massacre. He pointed to his forehead and told the hushed hearing panel about the bullet that struck just below Jesse's  hairline.

"Jesse looked at coward Adam Lanza in the eyes, saw his face and he looked at the end of that barrel, Jesse didn't run, Jesse didn

    be careful.

once you have technology and moderness limiting the bill of rights...

what's the next technology that get defined as dangerous?

social media...the ability to speak to millions in a matter of seconds could be

    determined as dangerous.

be very careful what you ask for.

...and you never hear, surf music again...

I remember before Christmas there was a thread here declaring that none of the Sandy Hook children were killed by the AR15.  Just yesterday, the coronor was testifying before Congress that they died from assault weapon rounds.  I guess he perjured himself, because Alex Jones and Mauser know differently.

That will never happen. Social media was the outlet for the bigger Dem campaigns and current propaganda used against the Pubs.

The phrase "assault weapon round" has no real meaning.

I could say the same thing about the phrase "a well regulated militia".

I kind of knew that might bring you and your buds out of the woodwork.  IDK why he used that term, but if it's not technically correct, no doubt your congressional heroes will assault him with the truth.  The guy's just a coronor, someone who went through medical school and now serves the public for undoubtedly less than other specialties.  He should be pubically corrected.  Maybe Wayne LaPierre could correct him about lots of things lethal.  The coronor only gets to see the result of the shot, not the shot itself.

Except for the minor detail that they haven't.

It is a varmint round. Small caliber, light weight, high velocity with a fairly flat trajectory at least out to 400 yards, or so. Originally a bolt action round used by prairie dog hunters. When Eugene Stoner invented the weapon that eventually became known as the m16/ar15, he chambered it in .223 Remington.

So it is a round used in an awful lot of true military assault rifles, and civilian non-assault rifles, but it's also pretty obvious why they felt the need to call them "assault rifle rounds".

Could you show me which? Not doubting you, I have a use for something a bit more than a .22 to rid my property of vermin (no not Trainset, he's a different type of vermin:smileylol:)

But if you're indeed correct, the NY ban will die due to 2nd Amendment pressure by the NRA.

Well I give him credit for being pretty civil.

He doesn't agree with me, but that alone wouldn't make one stupid.
