Spending cuts due to ground Navy's Blue Angels flying team

MOBILE, Alabama (Reuters) - Blue Angels pilot Dave Tickle said he is focused on practicing maneuvers for an upcoming show in California instead of worrying about how federal spending cuts will threaten performances this year by the U.S. Navy's renowned flight demonstration squadron.

With $85 billion in automatic cuts due to take effect on Friday, millions of fans across the country will likely miss out on the precision flying team's thrilling shows this year.

Blue Angels shows scheduled in more than two dozen cities between April and September are expected to be canceled as part of the cuts, said the team's spokeswoman, Lieutenant Katie Kelly. Some shows featuring the Blue Angels already have been called off in the face of budget uncertainties.

The grounding would be a sentimental loss for fans but not as serious as other reductions to defense spending, which President Barack Obama said could threaten Navy readiness. The Defense Department said the cuts would slash ship and aircraft maintenance, curtail training and result in 22 days' unpaid leave for most of the Pentagon's 800,000 civilian employees.

        Good.

        Cut the NASCAR team, too.

In a move that is rich in irony, President Obama agreed Tuesday night to sign an emergency deficit reduction bill that does almost nothing to rein in spending and then jetted out to Hawaii to resume his vacation at an extra cost of more than $3 million to taxpayers.

The price tag is in addition to more than $4 million that is already being spent on the Obamas

I remember watching the Thunder birds when I was about nine and My Uncle John was in the Airforce and a Tbird pilot.  I was not impressed then and I am not impressed now.

Things like the Tbirds, the Blue Angels, and the Nascar teams are nothing more than propaganda intended to instill patriotism and ensure the next generation of cannon fodder.  They should be done away with.

Bull****************.  If you ever saw the Blue Angels fly, you wouldn't say that.  They are a great propaganda tool for the United States worldwide that doesn't involve firing a shot.   I've seen them at least a dozen times, in numerous venues, including an incredible show over the San Francisco Bay.

        You're just a party poop.

      Solution:  Corporate sponsorship.

Pain "IBM" over "US Navy," Problem solved:  Big Blue Angels.

Want meaningful cuts......ground Airforce one. In the last week alone there has been a small fortune spend on unnecessary flights to provide nothing more than background for 0bama to make his farcical financial Armageddon speeches. Do the same with senators & congresspersons

Want meaningful cuts....start with the President, every department head, every senator & every congressperson & cut their staff & aids.....cut congressional & senatorial perks.....might even consider laying off a few senators & congresspersons, since it definitely wouldn't hurt their production, being as they're doing nothing anyway....could lay them all off & the only thing you notice would be the pleasant lack of ignorant meaningless, lying  rhetoric

Bring Kerry back & stop his promising money, that we don't have, to people that hate the U.S.

Great.  That's about .00001% of the budget.

        Any other suggestions?

Who knows, they may still be there for the show. The Prez has been having everyone scream & holler,  lie after lie, about the disasterous sequestor. This may just be another one.
