    It sucks that an old man has to violently execute his wife in their kitchen in order to relieve the woman he loves from unbearable suffering.
    A compassionate society would have infrastructure in place to allow an easier, less traumatic exit for those (and the families of those) who have made the rational decision that quality of life was no longer acceptable.
