  • College courses on Gender, Sexuality, etc: is it all BS?

I used to think it was all bull**************** until recently. But if you think about it, "Gender studies", while you can have an endless argument on the merits of its postmodernist approach, it does concern half of the human race and the way in which it has been portrayed to be part of that half.

This video, discussing a university module on pornography, makes perfect sense in the same respects. If there is a module on Ingmar Bergman (I don't know that there is, but I am assuming it exists somewhere), some Swedish film director that most people probably haven't heard about, then why not have a course on a genre that almost everyone watches constantly.

    A man is a man

    A woman is a woman

    Except when they're not.

If we all just learn to accept that about our fellow human beings, the need for such education falls away.

But of course, religious bull**************** and other bigotries get in the way.

You're forgetting that sex is bad and naughty. We must never forget that people are only permitted to express themselves as John Wayne or Marylyn Monroe, and only during hetero missionary sex in the dark for procreative purposes.
