  • Moore Public Schools Stadium to Get $400K Turf Upgrade (2011)

And then in 2012, the district will get around $2.2 million to build a new press box and improve the bleachers on the home side of the field.

    ---

ABC News asked the Moore school district why the school that was hit and others have no storm shelters. The reply was "we don't have the funding".

Wow...where are their priorities? This is "Tornado Alley" after all.

I heard today that some are now saying that maybe it's time to have that discussion.

What "discussion"? They have been hit here numerous times with 1999 being devastaing also.

One need not be an 'expert' to ask valid questions. Such as: If a concrete structure extending 4 feet down into the earth becomes unstable due to it sitting on the water table, how does an entire HS football stadium sit on the same ground without sections of it, or the entirety, also sinking in and therefore becoming unstable??

And based on asking, arrive at certain likely deductions, conclusions, and recommendations. Such as: If the ground CAN support the stadium, it can support a storm shelter. If seepage is a known issue, grade the floor of the shelter so all the water collects in one spot and install a sump pump.

Sump pumps don't cost tens of thousands of dollars.

        See how that works?

By asking rational questions, you cut through the bull****************. Oh that's right, you don't ask... instead, you accept as given the "industry/official explanation". Just a sheen after all....
