Members zuzz
Are the Google Play 320kbps MP3 files CBR (constant bit rate) or VBR (variable bitrate)? I know at the bottom of the "audio files" page it says "Content sold on Google Play will be 320 kbps .mp3 files." but it would be nice to know if the 'wav at 16 bitrate, 44.1 kbps' files that musicians upload are converted to an mp3 file that's CBR (constant bit rate) or VBR (variable bitrate) and if it's stereo or joint-stereo. Moderators daddymack Posted May 18, 2012 Moderators Share Posted May 18, 2012 did you try googling that?
Members A. Einstein
Any audio player plays back audio files with 320 kbps compression. Any video player plays back CBR and VBR videos. CBR (constant bit rate) and VBR (variable bitrate) are two video compression methods, has nothing to do with mp3 audio compression.
Members philbo
Hmmm... With all due respect to Mr. Einstein: I believe you are wrong on this one as regards audio (but, yes, video is VBR also). I've been encoding VBR audio MP3's for years.
Members A. Einstein
yes MP3 can also be transcoded in variable bit rates and you save in the data size with that
