  • How much per person is your NYE venue charging?

We're playing a small bar/restaurant(100 people max) NYE that is charging $20.00 per person. I believe we get a $500.00 guarantee, half the door, and a bar tab. They are going to have some "free" sliders/small burgers and champagne available at midnight. We're are all over 40 and play as hobby. We play mostly 80's "alternative" (REM, The Cure, INXS, The Cult, Social Distortion, etc.) and have a good following.

We're at one of our casino gigs. No cover, get there early for seats. It's supposed to get nuts, hopefully it will!

We're playing at a guy's barn, out in the KOUNTRY, yeehaw! We should rename the band "the Barn-Burners", IMO.

Actually it is a barn-shaped structure with concrete floors, the weather is going to be perfect (about 60) and the gig is as low-key and "just folks" as you can get- free beer, whiskey, and barbecue along with other "comps" I won't go into. They are also supposed to put us up somewhere so we don't have to get on the roads.

I have no idea how much it will pay, I just show up- to date they have never shorted me or treated me unfairly. However, I do not expect the usual $300+ that I usually get for NYE gigs (record for me was $450 at a casino).

EDITED: The host is not charging anybody a dime- they are all neighbors, friends, and people who work for him.

No cover, no guarantee. Always a fun venue, and we're friends with the owner.

$300 per couple. Includes room, buffet, champagne, etc. And the band will profit accordingly.

we are doing "Frist Night." Yep, An alcohol free gig in the downtown area of our hometown. There are a bunch of different venues with entertainment on the main street and others in the downtown area. We are one of the two "big" musical groups that are being promoted. The other is an amazing TSO cover band. The buttons you must wear to get into the venues are $8 each I think and we are getting paid VERY well by the city.

Our last set ends around 11:10pm and we are going to pack up like crazy people and get back to our singer's house for a party at midnight.

Wedding tonight. My favorite NYE gig. I really hate playing NYE in bars... total amateur night. The people that come out to see us throughout the year stay away from expensive packages or wind up doing house parties (smart since PD's and DWI checks are everywhere). The people who are out, it's their one and only night of the year. They get the babysitter, get dressed, dance all night and love the band... then you never see them again. They fade away until the next New Years. At least a wedding we'll earn double our normal rate and get some referrals.

I remember our first 'upcharge' NYE gig several years ago though. It was a large club/restaurant that we frequently played. Instead of a cover and drink packages he ran expensive dinner packages... $75 open bar, and $250 per couple for dinner and open bar. The feedback from our following was immediately negative. No one was going to spend that on New Years. We relayed this to the club manager and he brushed it off. True enough none of our following was there, They had maybe 120 people, all complete strangers which was far less than a normal night. I pulled aside our bass player before our 2nd set and we predicted the manager would be upset with the turnout. Instead he came right over, pulled out an envelope of cash and paid us in full before the 2nd set began. We asked him how everything was going. His words 'Terrific'. We ended up only playing a short 3rd set as people began to leave after midnight. Later we did the math and figured... he grossed $15,000, paid us $2K, had fixed costs for food and staff... the guy was practically clicking his heels as we loaded out.
                        so over this signature BS!!!

I'm expecting a number of regulars to walk into our venue, and say to themselves, "Oh, it's New Years? Far out!"

I am not sure what they are charging for a cover. When I talked to the owner yesterday, she let me know that all the tables had been reserved. Its a smallish bistro with excellent food. The city is holding a midnight a ball drop across the street, the weather is mild, so it should be a hopping night.

No gig for us!!! I'm paying $30 a person for a dance club that has a DJ.

Since it's amateur night, I figure I should get out!
