Don't Stop Believing and beating a dead horse.

We played it not once but twice last night. First set was good. About 150 people with maybe 35 dancing. By the time we went on for set two at 10:45, there were at least 100 people on the dancefloor and probably 350 total. So we opened with DSB. Dancefloor got more crowded and stayed that way for the whole set. Fast forward to set 4 around 1:40. At least 700 people. Had just done Sugar We're Going Down and didn't have to sing a word because the crowd sung the whole thing followed by Living on a Prayer. I said screw it and called out DSB again. Crowd exploded.

That is all....

The beaten horse that will not die for sure.

When we do it we generally end it by shouting "Don't Stop!" and then letting the crowd sing the chorus acapella and if it peters out, we're done, but if they are singing loud enough we ramp up the music on the build up and play through the 2nd half of the chorus again.

We rinse-and-repeat this as many times as the crowd will keep going.  Sometimes it seems like we're going to play that song 'till dawn.

This is a pretty sweet idea. Do you prompt the crowd to sing or do you just stop and they keep going on their own? We end on a "Don't Stop!" too (stopping everything including the music). The crowd doesn't keep going.

I'd like to pursue this a little though...details Dave! Do you keep the music going and just stop the vocals? Or are your crowds just that badass that they know to keep going?
