Members Old Fart Rocker
Yes, I know, the search function is your friend. My search only produced an old tired thread, so I thought I'd start a new one.Anyway, my rock band got bored of playing the same old classic rock. So, at the end of last year we decided to change things up and start doing New Country. As mentioned in another thread, same old rock, different hat. But I got to tell you I'm really enjoying playing this stuff. It has definitely breathed new life into a project that was dying on the vine.I'll post the songs that we have currently and would really like some suggestions on what I can add to the list, so fire away!Current List:Cruise...Florida Georgia LineBig Green Tractor...Jason AldeanHow Country Feels...Randy HouserCreepin'...Eric ChurchAmerican Saturday Night...Brad PaisleyTake A Little Ride...Jason AldeanLife Is A Highway...Rascall FlattsCountry Girl...Luke BryanSave A Horse Ride A Cowbow...Big and RichSideways...Dierks BentleyGive It All We Got Tonight...George StraitFriends In Low Places...Garth BrooksCountry Must Be Country Wide...Brantley GilbertMusta Had A Good Time...ParmaleeDrunk On You...Luke BryanShe's Country...Jason AldeanSome Southern Rock for a little flavor:You Got That Right...Lynard SkynardSweet Home Alabama...Lynard SkynardHold On Loosley....38 SpecialTequila Sunrise...EaglesSharp Dressed Man...ZZ TopOn the "TO LEARN" list:Red Solo Cup...Toby KeithChicken Fried...Zac Brown Band OK, let's have 'em..... We're also adding some new country with Broke By Sunday, as we've just picked up some dates at the Toby Keith bar that recently opened in our area. We've always done a healthy dose of crossover stuff ("Save A Horse", "Chicken Fried", and "Friends In Low Places" work whether a crowd likes country or not, generally).. but we're adding enough for a whole set. A few suggestions for you, based on what we're doing. "I Don't Want This Night To End" by Luke Bryan"A Little Less Talk, A Lot More Action" by Toby Keith"Watermelon Crawl" by Tracy Byrd"Toes" by Zac Brown Band"Hicktown" by Jason Aldean"Johnny Cash" by Jason Aldean"1994" by Jason Aldean"Dirt Road Anthem" by Jason Aldean(there's a local country band around here who kills it... but you'd swear they were an Aldean/Luke Bryan tribute act. Still, I get why they do what they do, those artists are hot right now)"Summertime" by Kenny Chesney"Somebody Like You" by Keith Urban"Long Hot Summer" by Keith Urban"Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me" by Keith Urban"Pickin Wildflowers" by Keith Anderson"Country Thang" by Colt Ford"Barefoot Blue Jean Night" by Jake Owen"Drink In My Hand" by Eric Church"Alcohol" by Brad Paisley"Wagon Wheel" by Old Crow Medicine Show... or Darius Rucker.. or even Against Me. Ours is kind of a mix of the OCMS and Against Me versions"Sold" by John Michael Montgomery"T-R-O-U-B-L-E" by Travis Tritt"Chattahoochie" by Alan Jackson"Fast As You" by Dwight Yoakum"Pontoon" by Little Big Town"Angel Eyes" by Love & Theft... judging from your previous list, those all seem like solid adds. Also... are you guys playing out yet? I personally love that Parmalee song. They're from not too far from us (we actually play like two of the same clubs they did as a cover band until like a year ago), but it seems like any time I put that on the break music, people just don't care about the song at all. Members Old Fart Rocker
Thanks for the suggestions. We just did our first gig on Friday. We had to throw in a healthy dose of some classic rock to cover the 4 hours but it went pretty well. The classic rock we did was mostly Southern Rock like Skynyrd, .38 Speacial, ZZ Top, etc. Gig went great. Great response to the new tunes. It was fun to see a lot people singing along. It was a small venue. We had about 75 people and the place was packed if that gives you any idea of the size of the place. Still a lot of fun!. Members toober
OFR, Copperhead road is upbeat. Something from Urban Cowboy usually goes over well. Make sure you have some waltz songs too (I didn't study your list) for those who can only dance to that beat.
