Working on details for NYE. At our local community center, where we play lots. 300 capacity. It's going to be our band and another band. I've done sound for them a few times now, great guys. We are going to trade sets. The other band is from out of town. Basically the nucleus of their band is the singer and 2 guitar players, one also plays keys. They have various drummers and bass players they pick up for each gig, depending on where they are playing. 0CF93129-51CE-43A7-8EF6-FE3D631752EF.jpg So to keep things simple, they will use our drum kit, our bass amp, and they are welcome to use our guitar amps if they want. That will keep things simple. We will get our full NYE rate plus I'll get a little extra for running sound for the other band. 0CF93129-51CE-43A7-8EF6-FE3D631752EF.jpg Wild West theme. The person putting it on wants to go Wild West for the night. Us in old school cowboy costumes, a couple skits etc. I hope it doesn't end up being too corny, and I hope people are into it. They usually want to dress up nice for NYE. There's enough time to get the idea out there and if if feels like its not going to work, then I can be changed to a more traditional NYE. 0CF93129-51CE-43A7-8EF6-FE3D631752EF.jpg Now for the little things, Posters: I hope it's not a big deal who is at the top, it doesn't matter to me. What matters to me is getting paid our full rate, a guest and a couple drink tix each. We will start playing at 8:30 I'm guessing, and do 45 minute sets, leaving 15 minutes for turnarounds. It shouldn't take that long. Shared back line, I'll mic the 4 guitar amps, I'll set the gains, and we will work with those, 2 different scenes, one for each band. 0CF93129-51CE-43A7-8EF6-FE3D631752EF.jpg The singer in the other band is in a wheelchair, so he will be dead center, and when they play, the center fill speaker will be on the ground. It's a 1' stage, and he uses IEM's. we use the monitors on either side. The only issue might be pedalboards, but that's why we have 15 minutes for change overs. 0CF93129-51CE-43A7-8EF6-FE3D631752EF.jpg Next are the ticket prices. She was thinking $50 - $60 and then $35 after the meal for the party, midnight lunch & champagne. That seems high to me. We played an NYE gig at those prices and it wasn't a huge turnout. That's $100 a couple, before you start buying drinks. Then after I seem lots of people come to the door, peek in and then leave. $35 for just the party is high as well in my books. 0CF93129-51CE-43A7-8EF6-FE3D631752EF.jpg I'm trying to convince her go go $40 for one, or $75 for 2, and then $20 for the party. 300 people at $40 beats 100 people at $50. Plus $20 is more reasonable for just the dance. My band is $2500 for NYE, including sound. Last year I did sound for th other band who played NYE on their own. So really, they are getting our band for $1300 which is about 33 tickets to cover it, as they'd have to pay me for sound. 0CF93129-51CE-43A7-8EF6-FE3D631752EF.jpg With the price cheaper, I think she will sell more. People will have more money to buy drinks etc. etc. so I'll work on her. 0CF93129-51CE-43A7-8EF6-FE3D631752EF.jpg Looking forward to the gig!! Now to get something going on for Halloween!!

Aaaaaaaaaaaand just got a call from our bass player. Our next gig is oct 18 for an awards gala. Then we are playing for our company's Christmas party on Nov 28 at our gold course. 0CF93129-51CE-43A7-8EF6-FE3D631752EF.jpg It's a small room so it will be a minimal setup. No subs, I don't even know if we will mic anything, besides kick and vocals. Simple light setup, back truss with 11 3NX. Then the next night is a big Christmas party at the big hall we usually play at. 0CF93129-51CE-43A7-8EF6-FE3D631752EF.jpg I'm going to do my best to convince the company on the 28th to move the gig to the big hall. That way we could do back to back at the same hall. 0CF93129-51CE-43A7-8EF6-FE3D631752EF.jpg We have our eyes on 2 more Christmas parties we would like to land. Busy busy.
