Members djiceman1575
I'm looking at cheaper (than say Global Truss) crank-up trussing for my rig, will need about 20ft in front for larger events. I've been looking at the LBO systems, and figured they would be able to support 20ft with just LED cans and some FX/moving heads with no problem. Anyone ever use them? Members BillESC
It's crap, you'll be sorry. Rigging is most certainly NOT the place to go cheap. Anything falls and hurts some one, you'll be paying the rest of your life.

Unless you are carrying great liability insurance going cheap with stuff that can fall on people is a bad idea.
Members breunic
What Bill said. I was considering Duratruss, but everyone I asked said it's pretty flimsy. I ended up taking a deep breath and shelling out for Global Truss. Now I'm poor, but I have one less very major thing to worry about.

Members djiceman1575
I didn't mean cheap like make my own and watch it crush some kid's skull...I'm trying to be budget friendly, as GT is pretty expensive. Are there any other alternate trussing between that and Global Truss to take a look at?
Members BillESC
Trilite Truss warrants a look. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=opti%20trilite%20100&source=web&cd=7&cad=rja&ved=0CFgQFjAG&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.optikinetics.com%2Fcategory%2Fopti-trilite-100-series&ei=1J0vUJXUEsLW2AWjyIDQBA&usg=AFQjCNHsN2HNjNwSD-5zweNK8bDFMULwHg

Members Zeromus-X
Let's be honest though... he's looking to put a few lights on there, not build a load-bearing structure. Global Mini truss will go 20' easily (that's what we used to use) and can often be found relatively inexpensive. I don't know how much the system you're looking at costs, but I want to say we paid less than $100 each for 2m sections of Global Mini box truss. We were flying a pair of Meyer tops (~75 pounds each) as well as three LED bars (420B, about 12 pounds I'm guessing), various dance floor lights, and sometimes a 20' banner. Check your local Craigslist and eBay. Three pieces shouldn't cost but maybe $250. You'll still need stands; crank stands are realistically the way to go, but we did plenty of shows with regular non-crank stands. Two people can raise pretty easily if you do one side at a time, a few feet at a time. Four people can raise the whole thing pretty easily. Be careful when lowering so that it doesn't slam down though. We used an extra set of bolts to place them into the safety holes on the poles, so that even if someone slipped, it'd only drop a few inches and hit the bolt. A pair of ST-132s would be best, but you're adding a hundred pounds, too. I forget what we sold our ST-132s for but I'm guessing you can get them for about $300/pair used. Members BillESC
A twenty foot span of Dura Truss will not be covered under the manufacturers liability insurance. You'll be on your own.
