    ... to limit their brightness? For example's sake, I mean have them never go above half of their max brightness while in use? Can I just use a smaller wattage bulb?

    Eh, I just read the manual and saw that using other bulbs may damade the fixture. Is there another way?

    I'm asking because I can get two used ones (cheap), but I'm afraid they may wash out our other stuff.

      Yes, you could purchase a sheet of neutral density gel and cut it to fit the lenses.  It is available in 3 levels of dimming.  50%, 75% and 90%.  It will not affect color output, just intensity.
