Members soundministries
Our church just bought a new laptop with a dvd in it, unfortunatly there is no soundcard output. My question is, can I take the headphone out into the mixer? I can use adaptors, di boxes, or whatever. Let me know if this will work and the best way to do it. Thanks for the help. Members theelmsrock
Sure. If the laptop is at FOH next to the console, then just use a 1/8"TRS - dual 1/4" or RCA, whichever you prefer to use. If the laptop is up on stage, then use a 1/8" TRS - 1/4" TS cable, into a DI box and on to the snake.

Members agedhorse
Do not Y the headphone L&R together without a resistive summing network, these new low voltage headphone and line driver amps do not like to drive each other directly! Older technology included output swamping resistors as part of the design, but the new stuff uses active protection on the driver IC.
Members ashivraj
andy, is there any market-ready device that already does this? the resistive-summing thing? or is it still more of a custom-built jobbie? and can it be fitted into an ordinary DI box so that, i can use it as either just an instrument in, or an instrument in + link out, or two parallel ins?
