Amp/monitor and submixer recommendations for live vocal/keyboard gigs?

I'm a producer of electronic music who is gearing up to to live shows. My basic performance setup will include 1-2 keyboards, 2 mics, premixed backing tracks (on CD or laptop), and possibly a live effects processor like the Alesis Ineko for vocals.

There are two items I don't have, but would like to get:

1. A submixer that I can put everything through before it goes out to the main soundboard. I know of other acts who do this, and get good results (and have also seen many who rely on the house sound guy and get crappy results).

2. Some kind of amp/monitor that will allow me to hear the mix on stage, and that I can use for rehearsals. I know nothing at all about amps and monitors; are there ones made particularly for keyboards?

Money is tight (isn't it always?) -- I'd really love to pick up both items for $500 or less. Is that realistic?

Thanks in advance. You guys have always steered me right in the past...
